Maren

Maren was born in Bilbao on November 30, 2002. She began writing songs at a very young age as a form of play, without any intention of it becoming her profession. Music gradually stopped being just entertainment and became her way of communicating and processing what was happening around her. Perhaps this is what pushed her to start working on her songs so early, releasing her first EP “Alguien Sin Vergüenza” at just fourteen years old. That same summer, she began performing her first acoustic concerts—initially close to home, and later in iconic venues in cities like Madrid (Costello, Siroco, Búho Real) and Barcelona (Sidecar). At just 16, she played her first festival, Wave Rave, organized by Crystal Fighters.

She currently lives between Bilbao and Barcelona, the latter being the city where she began developing her professional project after moving there to study an arts-focused high school program. In 2020, to celebrate her 18th birthday, Maren performed her first full-band concert at Teatro Campos Elíseos in Bilbao, marking the beginning of a series of still-pandemic-era shows in emblematic venues such as the Victoria Eugenia Theatre in Donostia.

In 2021, she released her debut album “Margaritas y Lavanda”, recorded in Barcelona at Arctic Wave Studio and produced by Sergio Sastre, Carlos Dueñas, and Maren herself. The album is a conversation with herself, reflecting on fears, the passage of time, and occasionally addressing more complex themes with a touch of irony.

The album has continued to evolve live. She has debuted as one of the youngest artists on the lineups of major national festivals such as SanSan Festival, Festival de Les Arts, Sonorama Ribera, Warm Up, Jardín de las Delicias, Cooltural Fest, O Son do Camiño, Cruïlla, Polar Sound, and Vida Festival.

Following the album, Maren composed an EP in her mother tongue, Basque. “Begixek” was both a personal indulgence and a tribute to her culture, which she also brings into her live performances. This EP was followed by the singles “En el Túnel de Lavado” and “Ojalá No Sea Verdad”, which mark the path toward the evolution of her upcoming work.

2024 marks the moment when years of work materialize in her second full-length album, “Qué Lástima”. After singles such as “Amaiera (Lo Que Te Espera)”, “Corre Que El Rayo No Te Parta”, “Acostumbrarme”, and “Haría Lo Que Fuera (Menos Lo Que Tú Quieras)”, she is preparing for a new turning point in her career.
